It is on Arches hot press paper. I did th sketch and about half of the painting on site. Then finished it in my studio the next day. I am pleased with the contrast and the focus on the city of Newport partially hidden by the bridge. It is on Arches hot press paper, and painted with a limited pallett. The painting is perminantly mounted on a wood frame and waxed. I used a lot of water to get water marks and splashes to loosten it up. This is my effort to paint in Kirk's style. This is a monochromatic painting on hot-press Arches paper. I built a 16"x20" wooden frame with a plywood surface, and stretched the paper perminantly on the frame. I thought the composition with the dark circular wauk, and the dark circular chef hats and would be interesting. I have been interested in trying to use hot press, since most of the watercolorists that I admire use it, Ted Nuttall, Arne Westerman, Charles Reid, etc.  I am finding that there are some interesting things that happen with granulation on hot press.
